Welcome to the homepage of the Pure Math, Applied Math, and Combinatorics & Optimization Club at the University of Waterloo.
NEW COUCH!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you actually enjoy math or is it just something you're going to do to get a degree? If you like number and logic puzzles, writing math contests, or ever studied a mathematical concept for the enjoyment of it, the PMAMC&O Club is for you.
The Pure Math/Applied Math/Combinatorics and Optimization Club offers its members many services. There is an office (MC 3033) where members can meet to discuss various mathematical problems and of course to socialize. There are many reference books, texts, and course notes available for use (a listing of our books is available here). Perhaps the greatest assets of the PMAMC&OC are its members. Whether you are interested in enumerating integer sequences, operator algebras, number theory, algebraic geometry or set theory, you will find somebody in the PMAM&OC who shares your interest.
The PMAMC&OC also holds frequent entertaining and informative talks on mathematics. These talks are given by professors in the Faculy of Mathematics or members of the PMAM&OC on a wide range of topics. Regardless of your background or particular interests in mathematics, you are sure to find a talk that will interest you. The club even provides free pop and snacks at the talks.
You don't have to be in Pure Math, Applied Math, or C&O, to join the PMAMC&OC. We have members from all departments in the Faculty of Mathematics. You don't even have to be good at math to join the PMAMC&OC. All you need is to be social and able to derive some enjoyment from mathematics.
The PMAMC&OC is supported by grants from the
Mathematics
Endowment Fund.
